Joshua Bell is a Melbourne-based fight director, fitness and movement trainer with a deep commitment to safe, compelling, and collaborative storytelling through stage combat. Under the mentorship of Lyndall Grant, he serves as an associate fight director with Captivate Action and has been a proud member of the Society of Australian Fight Directors since 2018.

Josh regularly choreographs and consults on stage violence for theatre productions across Melbourne, collaborating closely with directors and performers to create dynamic, emotionally resonant fight sequences that serve the unique world of each production. His work spans a wide range of styles, from classical swordplay to contemporary physical conflict, with recent credits including The Boys in the Band at Chapel off Chapel, The Effect with Et Tu Theatre Company, and Hamlet, Julius Caesar, Twelfth Night and The Whale with Melbourne Shakespeare Company.

An experienced educator, Josh teaches stage combat across public workshops, schools, universities, and training institutions including Captivate Action, NIDA Open, National Theatre Drama School, VCASS and Collarts. His approach emphasizes safety, storytelling, and empowering performers of all experience levels to feel confident in their movement.

Josh is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts (Theatre Practice, Honours) and a member of the 2016 Acting Company. He is also a qualified personal trainer and fitness instructor, bringing a strong foundation in physical conditioning to his work in movement and performance.
